Man barges into woman’s home, rapes her and threatens to shoot her pets

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A New Smyrna Beach area woman said an unknown armed man raped her and threatened to shoot her pets after forcing his way inside her home after she answered a knock at her front door Monday afternoon.

Volusia County deputies said the woman, who is in her 50s, told them the man knocked on her door around 3:30 p.m., asked her a question and then forced the door open and pointed a gun at her.

Deputies said the man then threatened to shoot her pets if she didn’t do as he said.

The woman told deputies that the man forced himself on her and punched her as he sexually battered her.

Deputies said the man involved is described as a heavyset 45- to 50-year-old white male, around 5-foot 11-inches tall with a long gray beard. They said he was wearing a red T-shirt and black pants and riding a red bicycle.
