Man dies after being pulled from ocean near Daytona Beach Bandshell

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. — A man died after lifeguards pulled him from the ocean near the Daytona Beach Bandshell on Thursday.

Volusia County Beach Safety Ocean Rescue officials said lifeguards pulled Glenn Engell, 58, from the water around 10:45 a.m.

They said the man, who is from the Daytona Beach area, was unresponsive and life-saving measures were performed.

Officials said the man was taken to a local hospital where he died just before noon.
