Troopers investigating fatal crash involving an Amtrak train and vehicle

VOLUSIA County, Fla. — Florida Highway Patrol Troopers are investigating a fatal crash that occurred in Volusia County Saturday morning.


According to troopers, a train collided with a vehicle around 7:40 a.m.

The crash happened on Washington Avenue near Volusia Avenue.

The train is an Amtrak with an unknown number of passengers onboard.

The driver of the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene, troopers said.

Troopers were notified about the crash at 8:20 a.m.

Washington Street is currently shut down for the investigation.
