WATCH: Video shows helicopter crashing into ocean off Miami Beach shore

MIAMI BEACH, Fla. — Two people were hurt after a helicopter crashed into the ocean off the coast of Miami Beach.

Police said the incident happened around 1:10 p.m. near 10th Street.


Several agencies, including Miami Beach Police Department and Miami Beach Fire Department, responded to the scene.

Officers said two occupants were taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center and are currently listed in stable condition.

Video from the beach shows crowds looking on as the victims were rescued from the ocean.

People can be heard cheering and applauding as rescuers reached the shore.

The beach area between 9th to 11th streets was closed to allow first responders access.

Police said the Federal Aviation Administration is responding to the scene.
