Wednesday forecast: Overcast with a chance of afternoon storms

ORLANDO, Fla. — Look for overcast skies with a 50% chance of rain showers throughout the day.

Daytime highs are expected to reach the upper 80s.

On Thursday, expect partially cloudy skies with the chance for some scattered thunderstorms at 60% and daytime highs around 85 degrees.

Looking ahead, a front will move into Florida, bringing with it some cooler temperatures for the weekend with lows in the upper 50s and low 60s.

The National Hurricane Center confirmed Tuesday afternoon that Tropical Storm Karl has formed in the Bay of Campeche.

Karl is forecast to strengthen Wednesday as it moves slowly over the Southwestern Gulf of Mexico.

There will be heavy rainfall and a flash flooding risk in the Isthmus of Tehuantepec, in the southern Sierra Madre Oriental mountains, and adjacent coastal areas.

Mudslides are possible in higher terrain.

The storm is not a threat to Florida.
