At the end of January, Seminole Towne Center will shutter its doors for good.

It’s a real loss for visitors such as Wes Scott, 75, who has been coming to the mall for 20 years.
“It’s just sad for the whole area,” he said. “It was so convenient.”

There is no shortage of theories as to why malls are dying in the U.S. — from the stagnation of household incomes to the rise of online shopping — and observers of Seminole Towne Center’s recent financial troubles can be forgiven for thinking this outcome was inevitable.
