Widow of Pine Hills shooting victim frustrated over lack of arrest

PINE HILLS, Fla. — When Tanya Webb learned the news that after a month-long manhunt suspected murderer Markeith Loyd had been captured, she cried.

Her tears weren’t from joy, though, they were from frustration.

Webb’s husband, Jeffery Webb, was shot to death on Dec. 11 outside a convenience store on North Lane Parkway and his killer is still on the loose.

“Everything stopped when they were looking for Markeith, and I’m happy they got Markeith,” Tanya Webb said. “But I have a homicide too, and it matters to me.”

Jeffery Webb left behind his wife and five children, all of whom want to see his killer brought to justice.

“Who’s going to help me?” Tanya Webb asked. “Who’s going to bring closure to me, because I don’t want to continue to have sleepless nights.”

Officials with the Orlando Police Department said they were working hard to track down the gunman, who also injured four others in the shooting that killed Jeffery Webb.

“Our homicide detectives work nonstop to solve their cases,” the department said in a statement. “Every case is a tragedy and important for them to solve.”

Tanya Webb wasn’t overly comforted by the news that investigators were still tracking down leads, saying she just wanted to see someone answer for her husband’s death.

“I just want justice,” she said. “I just want the system to do better.”
