Winter Park celebrates the first ever Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness

WINTER PARK, Fla. — It’s a *beautiful* day in the neighborhood --- to be kind.

Last week, Winter Park took part in the Inaugural Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness.

Mister Rogers’ Week of Kindness is a series of educational and public events inspired by the nationally renowned children’s television host and American icon.

Fred Rogers is a Rollins College alumnus and is most well-known for his children’s show “Mister Rogers’ Neighborhood.”

Some of last week’s events included a Lunch and Learn event with David Newell, who played Mr. McFeely, Remember the Rogers Afternoon Tea, a Mister Rogers’ Prayer Breakfast of Thanksgiving and Celebration and a screening of a behind-the-scenes look at the show.

“He was probably the kindest person I ever knew,” Newell said. “He was kind; he was thoughtful. He practiced that every day. He was that way with everyone.”
