Woman, 82, dies in Lake County crash

LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — An 82-year-old woman died in a crash in Lake County.

The Tavares Police Department said the crash happened on Tuesday at 10:20 a.m. at the intersection of David Walker Drive and Dora Avenue.

A Lake County Sheriff’s Office deputy found the woman trapped in her car. Police said a Tavares officer climbed through the passenger window to help the woman but she was not responsive.

Together, the deputy and the officer removed the woman from the car and began CPR.

They tried to save the woman but she died.

Witnesses said the woman drove through a red light on David Walker Drive. Another car, which had the right of way, was traveling on Dora Avenue when it collided with the woman’s passenger door.

Another car was impacted in the crash, police said.

The intersection was shut down for three hours.

The woman’s name has not been released.
