WWE performance center opens in Orlando

ORLANDO, Fla. — Wrestling fans in central Florida have a place to enjoy close to home.

The Global Performance Center officially opened on Forsyth Commerce Road near Full Sail University in Orange County.

City officials said the new World Wrestling Entertainment Performance Center could boost the local economy by giving a chance to train more potential stars of the WWE.
In the process, the facility could bring jobs to central Florida.

The new facility will train about 75 performers.

They will learn everything from who to perform in the ring, to performing in front of the camera.

There are also state-of-the-art weight rooms and on-site medical care to help with any injuries.

They are even studios where those training to become announcers can practice.

"I run on a campaign of getting our state back to work so it's great when you have companies like this that focus on jobs," Gov. Rick Scott said.

Scott said the new facility is good for the WWE and for central Florida.

"I was here three months ago, and what a change. There is so much that's happening, all the talent that's already here and all the things that are happening here, it's really impressive," Scott said.
