Teen shot while walking in Sanford, police say

SANFORD, Fla. — Sanford police are investigating a shooting that sent a child to the hospital Thursday night.

Police said the 13-year-old boy was walking on Olive Avenue when he was shot in the hip.

The boy and another person was rushed to the hospital.

Police didn’t comment on the severity of the victim’s injury.

Police set up a perimeter near the intersection of West 3rd Ave. and Olive Ave. where they said a stolen vehicle was found that appears to be connected to the shooting.

No other information on the circumstances surrounding the shooting were released as police say the incident is still actively under investigation.
