Police said the bodies of 23-year-old Anquannette Skanes and 35-year-old Lapriet Jordan were discovered on Sunday inside an apartment at the River Breeze Apartments on US-1 and Court Street (see map) . Anquanette Skanes & Lapriet Jordan Anquanette Skanes & Lapriet Jordan .

Relatives said Skanes left her children with a babysitter and went out Saturday night and said she texted a relative that she was home Sunday morning.

WFTV was told that Skanes's cousin went by her apartment to get a flat iron for her hair and when Skanes didn't answer the door, the cousin climbed through an open window and found the bodies of Skanes and Jordan.

Police revealed one victim was shot, but wouldn't say which victim. Police said the other victim's cause of death would have to be determined by the medical examiner.

Investigators clarified that the initial report police received was that it was a murder-suicide, but it was later determined that it was a double murder.

Relatives told WFTV that Skanes and Jordan were dating. Skanes had two children, a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old, who are staying with family members.

Now, police are trying to figure out who the killer is.

However, investigators said 40-year-old Larry Augusta Lee is a person of interest in the case.

Lee is the father of one of Skanes's children, officers said. Investigators said Lee has an active felony warrant for unrelated charges, and are searching for him.

"The police department is absolutely committed to capturing any and all suspects that may be involved in this case. I have detectives out in the field as we speak. It's a very fluid operation and I would prefer not to release any other details at this time," said Major Stuart Otto, of the Titusville Police Department.

"It's hurtful when you lose somebody in the family, but more especially when you lose two people who mean something to somebody," said family spokesperson, Rev.Glenn Dames.

Nearly 75 friends, family members and neighbors surrounded the crime scene on Sunday.

"He was a good guy, a lovable person, responsible person. You see how many people are here?" said the victim's father, Lonquin Jordan.

Skane's aunt, who did not want to be identified, said her niece's murder has hit the family very hard.

"This is a double tragedy because she just lost her grandfather. We just buried him Friday," she said.
