Election live updates: Biden addresses the nation as many states remain too close to call

ORLANDO, Fla. — Key battleground states are still up for grabs in the election as several thousand votes still need to be counted.

9:30 p.m. update

Democratic candidate Joe Biden’s lead in Arizona against President Donald Trump continued to dwindle Friday night after more results were released in Maricopa County, the state’s most populous county.

5:30 p.m. update

Biden is now leading President Donald Trump by 4,200 votes in Georgia.

4 p.m. update

According to ABC News, in Georgia, which has 16 electoral votes, Biden is leading by 1,602 votes.

They are reporting that Biden has 49.4% (2,450,381 votes) while Trump has 49.4% (2,448,577 votes) of the state’s votes.

3:10 p.m. update

As of just after 3 p.m. on Friday, Georgia election officials said Biden is 1,585 votes ahead of President Trump.

Georgia officials are providing a live update right now as ballot counting continues.

Noon update

ABC News is reporting that Biden has nearly doubled his lead in Nevada over President Trump as of noon on Friday.

11:50 a.m. update

As of 10:45 a.m. Friday, 124,169 mail-in ballots remained to be counted in Pennsylvania, according to Channel 9′s sister station WPXI.

Biden was leading Trump in Pennsylvania on Friday morning by about 9,000 votes.

11:20 a.m. update

With the margins between Biden and Trump remaining razor thin at around 1,000 votes, Georgia election officials said there will likely be a recount in the state.

11 a.m. update

Georgia election officials said there are 4,169 ballots left to be counted in the state.

Biden currently leads the state by 1,000 votes.

10:25 a.m. update

As of 10:10 a.m. Friday, Biden had about 6,800 votes more than Trump in Pennsylvania.

President Donald Trump’s campaign manager said in a statement that the 2020 presidential race “is not over” as speculation grew Friday that Trump might lose his re-election bid.

9 a.m. update

Biden now leads Trump by more than 5K votes in Pennsylvania

Former Vice President Joe Biden took a narrow lead in both Georgia and Pennsylvania Friday morning.

In Pennsylvania, Biden now leads President Donald Trump by 5,594 votes. Biden also took a very narrow lead over Trump in Georgia overnight. Biden leads Trump by just 918 votes in Georgia.

8:45 a.m. update

Workers continue to count ballots as race remains undecided

Workers in several states are continuing to count ballots as the presidential race remains too close to call.

The majority of votes in Pennsylvania are set to be counted Friday.

In Arizona, Maricopa County is expected to give an update on the election at 11 a.m. ET.

In Georgia, a software issue caused a delay in counting votes. Biden took a small lead in the state early Friday morning.

6:45 a.m. update

Former Vice President Joe Biden takes narrow lead in Georgia

Former Vice President Joe Biden took a narrow lead in Georgia, with a 1,096 votes over President Donald Trump.

Georgia is continuing to count ballots Friday. The last time a Democratic presidential candidate took the state was in 1992.

4:45 a.m. update

Key battleground states still up from grabs as votes continue to be counted

The election remains undecided as several key states are still counting votes.

The following states have not been called: Alaska, Georgia, North Carolina, Nevada and Pennsylvania.

Here is a breakdown of how the votes counted so far, according to The Associated Press.

  • Alaska: Trump leads by 54,610 with 50% of the expected votes counted.
  • Georgia: Biden leads by 917 votes with 99% of the expected votes counted.
  • North Carolina: Trump leads by 76,701 votes with 94% of the expected votes counted.
  • Nevada: Biden leads by 11,438 votes with 84% of the expected votes counted.
  • Pennsylvania: Trump leads by 18,042 votes with 97% of the expected votes counted.

Currently, the AP has projected 264 electoral votes for Biden, versus 214 for Trump. Biden also leads the national popular vote, with nearly 73.5 million (50.51%) to Trump’s 69.6 million (47.85%), according to the AP.
