White House seeks to delay 2020 Census

WASHINGTON D.C. — President Donald Trump is seeking to push back the 2020 Census until Halloween due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The deadline for finishing the headcount had already been pushed back from the end of July to August because of the outbreak.

Trump said that the Census Bureau will ask Congress for a 120-day extension, which he feels is not long enough for safety precuations.

According to the Census, Florida’s statewide response rate is about two percent lower than the national average.

Sumter County has the highest response rate among Central Florida counties.
