Hurricane policies for Florida theme parks

As Hurricane Dorian continues to churn off Florida’s coast, theme park visitors might be wondering how the storm could impact their plans.

Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, SeaWorld Orlando and Busch Gardens were closed for a couple of days when Hurricane Irma hit in 2017. It was only the fifth time Disney had closed since 1971, WTSP reported.

Many of the parks have similar policies in place if a hurricane warning is issued within seven days of arrival. The tickets or other accommodations booked through the park can be canceled or rescheduled without a fee.

Walt Disney World's hurricane policy also applies to Disney's Vero Beach Resort and its Hilton Head Island Resort.

Universal Orlando's hurricane policy also allows guests to cancel or reschedule if the National Hurricane Center issues a tropical storm warning or a state of emergency is declared for the Orlando area.

Guests at SeaWorld parks, which includes roller coaster-heavy Busch Gardens, can reschedule or cancel their ticket if a named tropical storm or hurricane approaches Orlando, Tampa or the guest's city, BayNews9 reported.

Legoland Florida theme parks and resorts have a similar hurricane policy. It also applies to Legoland water parks, hotels and beach retreat.
