According to the police report, Lark and White entered the hotel's pool area, WPDE reported. Witnesses told police Lark kicked the 15-week-old puppy, which fell into the pool, the television station reported.

The puppy was unable to swim and would have drowned if hotel patrons had not intervened, according to the police report.

After the arrests, the puppy was found in a parking lot across the street from the hotel and being watched by Lark's brother, WBTW reported. Police took the dog to a local humane society, the television station reported.
