OPA-LOCKA, Fla. — A 10-year-old boy who was shooting paintballs at a house Sunday in South Florida was injured after the homeowner, who thought he was under attack, returned fire with an actual gun, investigators said.
Opa-Locka police said a car pulled in front of a house where children were playing in the yard, then multiple people got out and started firing “rifle paint guns,” WPLG reported.
Investigators said the homeowner, believing he was under attack, returned fire with an actual firearm, WFOR reported. One of the juveniles was struck.
The driver fled the scene with the injured child in the car. The child was taken to a hospital. His condition has not been released.
