According to WIAT and AL.com, authorities arrested Jasilyn Shebreit Hughes, 27, of Birmingham, on Sunday, more than five months after the incident took place, authorities said.
On April 1, Hughes put 4-month-old Jahzara Harris' body in a diaper bag and set fire to the remains, which she abandoned in an alley, court documents said. Officials have not said how the infant died, AL.com reported.
Hughes remains in the Jefferson County Jail on a $250,000 bond, according to the news outlets.
