Coronavirus: Alabama man gets lifetime Walt Disney World ban for lockdown break-in

An Alabama man has lost access to “the most magical place on Earth," following a failed attempt to spend lockdown for the novel coronavirus pandemic in a “tropical paradise.”

Richard McGuire, 42, of Mobile has been fined $100 and banned for life from Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida, after authorities arrested him in May for trespassing on Discovery Island.

McGuire was arrested May 1 after he entered the park during the coronavirus lockdown, made his way via boat to the long-shuttered attraction and posted videos on YouTube of his unauthorized camping trip, AL.com reported.

He told investigators at the time of his arrest that the island “looked like a tropical paradise” and that he had planned to stay on the island for at least a week.

McGuire had faced up to a year in jail prior to pleading no contest to the trespassing charge last week, AL.com reported.
