OKLAHOMA CITY — Country music star Blake Shelton is giving back to families in need in his home state amid the coronavirus pandemic.

According to KOCO-TV, the Oklahoma native pledged $150,000 to the station’s fundraiser benefiting the Regional Food Bank of Oklahoma.

“A lot of Oklahomans are gonna be going to bed hungry tonight, and that’s not something that I can live with,” Shelton said in a video. “That’s why I’m gonna be donating to my Regional Food Bank, the Oklahoma Food Bank, and I hope you’ll join me and help from home and send in that donation because a lot of people out there are counting on us.”

The campaign had raised more than $417,000 by Tuesday night, KOCO reported.

As of Wednesday morning, Oklahoma had reported at least 2,807 confirmed coronavirus cases and 167 deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University.
