“It just seems so unfair,” Jaime Patrick told KLAS.

In July, Patrick’s 39-year-old daughter Brandi died from the coronavirus and her son Dustin was hospitalized with it.

“She said, ‘Mom if I don’t make it I want you to know I love you, you are the best mom. I couldn’t have asked for anyone better,’” Patrick said.

Although his health seemed to improve, Dustin’s lung collapsed earlier this week. He died Thursday, KLAS reported.

“There is nothing left of his lungs,” Patrick said. “The doctor said they are just two cement blocks. That is how much scar tissue is in there because of COVID.”

Patrick said neither were vaccinated.

“That’s why it’s so important to get vaccinated,” Patrick said. “Brandi and Dustin wouldn’t have been in (the hospital). They would have been at home with me and they are not able to do that.”

A crowd-sourced fundraising account was set up to help pay medical costs.
