Dunkin’ announces closure of 800 locations

It may not be as easy to get your Dunkin’ coffee and doughnut fix in the morning.

The company announced it will be closing about 800 locations, or about 8% locations in the U.S., CNN reported.

The locations are considered “low-volume sales locations” and only brought in about 2% of total sales.

More than half are in Speedway convenience stores and are expected to be closed by the end of the year.

The announcement concerning the Speedway locations was made earlier this year and was said to help the company focus on independent locations, Fox Business reported.

Dunkin’ officials said about 350 additional locations outside of the U.S. may close as well, CNN reported.

Many stores had been closed due to the coronavirus, but 96% of the chain have reopened in the U.S., except for ones that are located in transportation hubs, on colleges and in sports venues, Fox Business reported.
