Happier holidays: ‘A Christmas Story’ sequel to be released in November

Peter Billingsley will reprise his role from the 1983 original as Ralphie Parker, returning to his childhood home in “A Christmas Story Christmas” with his wife and children in a bid to recapture the holiday magic of his childhood, according to an IMDB.com synopsis.

There has been no confirmation or denial of the use of pink bunny suits in the making of the sequel, however.

Much of the original movie was filmed in Cleveland, with scenes in Public Square and at the famous house on West 11th Street in the Tremont neighborhood, Cleveland.com reported.

According to the news outlet, Scott Schwartz and R.D. Rob will also reprise their roles as Ralphie’s buddies Flick and Schwartz, while Ian Petrella is set to return as Ralphie’s younger brother Randy.

Meanwhile, audiences may have more trouble recognizing Zack Ward as Officer Scut Farkas.

And while audiences are hopeful Billingsley and the crew make it to the end of the movie without shooting an eye out, bear in mind that the sequel was penned by Nick Schenk, who wrote both “Gran Torino” and “The Mule,” Cleveland.com reported.

Although the beloved film has become a Christmas classic, the original film was a box-office flop that spawned a straight-to-video sequel, “A Christmas Story 2,” in 2012, the news outlet reported.

HBO Max also confirmed on Wednesday the pending release of three other yuletide titles from ESX Entertainment: “Holiday Harmony” and “A Christmas Mystery,” both being released Nov. 24, and “A Hollywood Christmas,” which drops Dec. 1, according to Deadline.
