Jail records show authorities booked Osmel Lugo-Gutierrez, 51, on a second-degree murder charge. His arrest came after investigators said he shot and killed another man Saturday night while standing in line to pay at the Publix on Ponce de Leon Boulevard in Coral Gables, WFOR-TV reported.

He was being held without bond Monday at Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center, according to WTVJ-TV.

The victim was identified as Franklyn Jose Pineyro, 49, WSVN reported. Citing an arrest report, the news station reported that Pineyro was shot once in the chest during an argument in the lottery ticket line.

Other shoppers were in the store at the time of the shooting, though no other injuries were reported, according to WFOR.

Officials with Publix said Sunday in a statement that they were cooperating with investigators.

“Our thoughts are with those who are impacted by this tragedy,” the statement read. “Since this is an active police investigation, we cannot confirm any additional details.”
