Now hiring: FedEx to hire 70,000 seasonal workers

While the economy may still be reeling because of the coronavirus pandemic, there could be a glimmer of hope for those who are out of work. FedEx will be hiring 70,000 seasonal workers.

The number is a 27% increase compared to last year, Bloomberg reported.

The company hired 55,000 workers last year, Fox Business reported.

In the quarter that ended in May, FedEx’s ground delivery in the U.S. was 20% higher than the same time last year. Industry experts believe the latest quarter, which ended in August, will be the same or will be even higher than the previous timeframe.

The company will also be delivering more packages on Sundays, bringing it to 95% of the country by the middle of the month.

FedEx and its competitor, UPS, have been profiting from the coronavirus pandemic as more people are ordering online with the country being shut down, Bloomberg reported.

Walmart has had online sales 97% higher for the second quarter. Target and Dick’s Sporting Goods had about 195% jump each, Fox Business reported.
