Pennsylvania man turns parent’s garage into Christmas wonderland

POTTSTOWN, Pa. — A Pennsylvania family was not going to let the coronavirus pandemic get in the way of their Christmas spirit or getting together.

Ken Sachar knows what his mother wants each year to spend time together during the holidays. However, with his parent’s pre-existing conditions — Sachar’s mother, Rozalie, is undergoing chemotherapy treatment for cancer, and his father, Tom, suffers from Parkinson’s disease — it seemed an impossible task, WFMZ reported.

“Zoom is fine, it’s fine to see, but it’s not the same,” Ken Sachar said. “And there’s something about looking somebody in the eye and seeing them through the glass or seeing them right across the room or putting your hand up to their hand.”

So, Ken got to work converting his parent’s garage into a Christmas wonderland.

“I can’t be near anyone. No kids — nobody — because of the chemo and my immune system and all that, so if he didn’t do this, I wouldn’t have any Christmas,” Rozalie Sachar told WFMZ. “We open presents. We play bingo with the younger kids. It was just a great, great present. Absolutely fantastic.”

His mother is grateful.

“We can talk to each other. We can see each other. If he didn’t do that, I wouldn’t have any Christmas,” Rozalie Sachar said. “That’s what I always wanted. Just the family to be together, so we were.”
