State police troopers first spotted a 2003 Lexus ES300 driving erratically on Interstate 275 in Hillsborough County, the Tampa Bay Times reported. When troopers tried to stop the vehicle, suspecting the driver was impaired, the Lexus took off at a high speed.

The vehicle continued to Tampa International Airport, where it stopped and allowed two adult female passengers out of the car, before reversing and intentionally crashing into the front of a trooper’s patrol car, Florida Highway Patrol said in a news release.

Troopers said the driver then drove south in the northbound lanes of the George J. Bean Parkway, hitting a truck that was traveling north.

The driver of the Lexus was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries, WTVT reported. Troopers said the driver of the truck had only minor injuries.

Troopers did not release the names of either driver.
