Texas man accused of recording 8-year-old girl in shower

SAN ANTONIO — A Texas man is accused of recording an 8-year-old girl with his cellphone as she showered, authorities said.

Benito Villegas, 27, of San Antonio, was arrested Thursday and charged with one count of invasive visual recording, according to Bexar County online court records. His bail was set at $15,000, according to jail records.

According to an arrest affidavit, the girl’s mother called authorities on Aug. 7, telling them the alleged recording took place two days earlier, KSAT reported.

The girl told police that Villegas “adamantly demanded she shower” while the two of them were in the home alone, the television station reported. Villegas allegedly told the girl to leave the bathroom window open while she showered, WOAI reported.

“The 8-year-old was confused by the instruction but complied,” according to the arrest affidavit.

The girl told police that she saw Villegas’ hand in the open window, holding a cellphone that was pointed at her, KSAT reported.

After obtaining a search warrant for Villegas’ cellphone, police said they found the video depicting the girl in the bathroom, the television station reported.
