Spotty showers continue Sunday night as front moves through Central Florida

ORLANDO, Fla. — A front caused rain, lightning and the potential for tornadoes in parts of Central Florida on Sunday.

After waking up to downpours Sunday morning, the rain cleared and temperatures rose to 89 degrees in Melbourne, a record for Valentine’s Day.

More storms developed Sunday afternoon, causing issues and race delays for the Daytona 500.

Spotty storms will continue into Sunday night, but the rain will be hit or miss.

There is still a chance for an overnight or morning shower in the forecast through Monday.

Central Florida will see possible isolated strong storms late Monday afternoon.

Scattered showers will develop Monday night and clear Tuesday morning. This will usher a brief little cooldown for Tuesday afternoon and night.

Temperatures should return to the 80s by Wednesday, before the next big push of cold air.

The next cold front may drop Saturday and Sunday’s morning temperatures into the 40s.
