2 hospitalized after being burned at Ocala restaurant

OCALA, Fla. — Two people were taken to the hospital after suffering burns at a restaurant in Ocala Thursday.


Firefighters from Ocala and Marion County Fire Rescue responded to Edo’s Japanese Steakhouse on SW College Rd. around 5 p.m. for reports of an explosion with possible burn injuries.

First responders were pointed towards an open grill area where they found the two burn victims and extinguishing powder covering the ground nearby, according to the fire department.

Both burn patients were assessed on the scene before being taken to Shands Hospital for treatment.

No other injuries were reported.

The exact cause of the fire is under investigation.
