ORLANDO, Fla. — The University of Central Florida is blocking access to TikTok on campus.

It’s all because of an emergency regulation from the State Board of Governors, impacting all public Florida universities.

Most students on campus said they don’t agree with the ban, and that it’s a slippery slope since every app and even your phone collects data.

“I don’t think it’s fair, especially for the people that stay in dorms,” one student said. “My friends stay in dorms, and they use the Wi-Fi, and so they’re supposed to turn it off to use the app.”

UCF students were just finding out about the ban, and most say they were not worried about the Chinese collecting data.

“I honestly don’t think that it is an issue,” one student said. “I was never worried about it, and I feel like we should be able to just make the decision for ourselves.”

TikTok and the other banned apps and programs must also be deleted from all university-owned computers and phones. UCF said the list of banned apps could change, and they also recommend students delete the apps from their personal devices.
