Guardians draft former Florida State star Francois

ORLANDO, Fla. -- The XFL’s Orlando Guardians drafted a pair of quarterbacks Tuesday night, including an Orlando native.

Former Florida State and Olympia High School standout Deondre Francois has been drafted by his new hometown team. His first game and first start with the Seminoles came at Camping World Stadium back in 2016, the site of his new home field.

Down 22 to Ole Miss, he led Florida State to its biggest comeback win in school history. He is excited to suit up for Orlando in 2023.

“I am very excited,” said Francois. “Excited to play football again, excited to be in the XFL and excited to be in Orlando in my home town where I went to high school. So many things to be excited for and I am just thankful.”

The Guardians also drafted Quinten Dormady. He played college football at Houston and Tennessee before finishing up at Central Michigan. His NFL minicamp experience includes stops with the Green Bay Packers and the Tennessee Titans.
