ORLANDO, Fla. -- World No. 1 ranked golfer Jon Rahm leads the field at the Arnold Palmer Invitational (-7) after shooting an opening round 65 Thursday at Bay Hill Club & Lodge.
The Spaniard finished eagle-birdie-birdie to take a two-stroke lead on the rest of the field. Chris Kirk, Cameron Young and Kurt Kitayama sit two strokes back at 5-under.
Eight golfers are tied for fifth at 4-under. That group includes defending champ Scottie Scheffler, Jordan Spieth and Rickie Fowler.
“I had a lot of good looks for birdie – I played really good golf today and I took advantage of the three or four missed opportunities, missed fairways and greens really, really well,” Rahm said.
