FHP: Hit-and-run suspect found hiding in Orange County construction lot

ORANGE COUNTY, Fla. — An Orlando man has been arrested for rear-ending another vehicle and driving away, troopers with the Florida Highway Patrol said.

Troopers said Shannon Lee Courtney, 44, was driving west on Lake Underhill Road just east of Rouse Road when he rear-ended another vehicle.

A trooper in the area saw the crash and tried to pull over Courtney, but he refused to stop and drove into a construction lot near Dean and Lake Underhill Road.

Courtney’s vehicle became stuck in the dirt, and he got out and ran away, troopers said. A K9 later found the suspect hiding. Courtney was treated for a dog bite before he was taken to jail.

Courtney has been charged with leaving the scene of a crash, driving on a suspended license and careless driving.

Courtney hasn’t had a valid driver’s license in three years.

No one in the other vehicle was hurt.
