Eye on the tropics: Tracking 2 potential tropical disturbances

ORLANDO, Fla. — Channel 9 meteorologists are watching two potential tropical disturbances this week.

Channel 9 meteorologist George Waldenberger said the first will likely become a tropical depression sometime on Monday as it forms near Bermuda. It is no threat to Florida, but the disturbance may move near the U.S. northeast coast toward the end of the week.

A second disturbance will likely move out of the Caribbean and about 500 miles off the Florida coast for the weekend.

Right now, the National Hurricane Center is giving this second disturbance a 30% chance of formation into a tropical or subtropical depression by the weekend.

The main impact of this system on Florida will be helping to build our wave heights at our east coast beaches.

Waldenberger said he’ll be monitoring the system over the next seven days and keep you updated of any forecast updates.
