ORLANDO, Fla — 5 p.m. Monday update:
Tropical Storm Andres has been downgraded to a tropical depression.
While the Atlantic Hurricane Season officially begins June 1, things are getting started just a bit earlier in the Eastern Pacific.
May 15 is the official start date for the Eastern Pacific Hurricane Season, which includes the west coast of North America and Mexico. But a storm has already formed in the Pacific off the southwest coast of Mexico.
The storm, which formed Sunday, is now the earliest named storm to form in the Eastern Tropical Pacific on record.
Its official name is Tropical Storm Andres.
Tropical Storm Andres is moving away from the Mexico mainland and should weaken as it moves further away from the coastline.
