Ban On Alcohol Sales During Hurricanes?

FLORIDA — If a hurricane makes landfall, Florida could become a dry state and shut down alcohol sales.

A little-known law on the books since 1974 allows the Governor to ban all alcohol sales during a state of emergency. Local governments also have the same power.

State officials said it's important for residents to be sober so they can protect themselves and keep people from having so-called "hurricane parties."
