Documents: Couple Describes Home Invasion Horror

WINTER GARDEN. Fla.,None — New documents released to WFTV Thursday tell the horrors that a Winter Garden family suffered as they were held hostage for three days. WFTV first reported in November about a group of thieves that forced their way into the family's home in the Lake Roberts Landing neighborhood (see map) and tortured them for money.

WFTV spoke with one of the victims, Rubens Morais, Thursday and he told her the attack started with a tax return.

"When I opened he shot my door over here and pushed me down, tied my hands and take my son. My son came to me, put the gun to my son," Morais said.

Holiday Travel and Tours did work for Rubens Morais' business, so it had all his financial information. Morais said the owner's daughter was one of the attackers and that both of them are missing.

Morais said the gunmen threatened his 5-year-old son moments after firing a shot at their front door one Sunday morning last November. They were tied up and taken in their SUV to an area in Apopka overnight. Morais' wife, Marcela Borges, was taken to a mobile home and he and his son to an Apopka apartment.

After Marcela was forced to withdraw money at the Ocoee Bank of America, they suffered almost unspeakable horrors back at their house. The sadistic threats didn't stop as the five gunmen tried to get more money. They told Morais his wife and son would be killed two hours apart.

Investigators are still looking for alleged mastermind, Bianca Dos Santos, and Morais told WFTV that three other suspects are still on the run.

At some point, Marcela said, she took an opportunity to pull a kitchen knife on Dos Santos when she was getting a drink of water. Eventually, she was tied up again and beaten on the face with a gun. Her survival instinct drove her to get herself free and jump out the second-story window.

As Marcela ran toward her neighbor's house for help, two shots were fired toward her and her neighbor. One of them went right through her side and shattered her wrist, but they got help and they survived.

Victor Sanchez Santiz, Miguel Diaz Santiz and Oscar Diaz-Hernandez are all accused of home invasion, kidnapping and attempted murder.

Investigators are still looking for Bianca Dos Santos.
