Gov. DeSantis calls for FDLE to investigate Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Gov. Ron DeSantis is calling for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement to look into allegations of misuse of funding within the Florida Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The governor says his office will not tolerate wasteful or fraudulent spending, particularly by an organization that claims to serve the vulnerable victims.

A letter put out by DeSantis reveals that back in 2018, the Department of Children and Families expressed concerns relating to employment compensation and accounting of funds received by FCADV.

In a statement late Thursday afternoon, DCF said it applauds the governor’s call for immediate action into the coalition, going on to say the coalition has skirted all efforts by DCF to hold it accountable for more than a year.

Channel 9 reached out to the governor’s office and the coalition for further comment but has not heard back.
