Help save the sea cows by adopting a manatee this holiday season

MAITLAND, Fla. — Looking for a gift that will help do some good this holiday season? You can go big and adopt a manatee.

Alas, you’re not actually able to bring the 1,000-pound manatee home, but you can learn more about your manatee’s story and feel good about helping manatee conservation efforts.

The Adopt-A-Manatee program is run by the Save the Manatee Club, and each adopter gets to choose real, living manatees with unique histories to adopt.

“Not only is the Adopt-A-Manatee program a great way to give a unique and educational gift, the funds are indispensable to helping Save the Manatee continue our work to conserve manatees and their habitat,” said Patrick Rose, an aquatic biologist and executive director of Save the Manatee Club.

Manatee adoption packages can be shipped directly and include a personalized adoption certificate, a biography with a photo of your specially-chosen manatee, a Save the Manatee Club membership handbook, and newsletters sent throughout the year with updates on adoptees and manatee conservation news.
