BREVARD COUNTY, Fla. — A funeral was held on Saturday for a Brevard County teenager who officials say died after contracting an amoeba infection while swimming in the St. Johns River in Mims.
16-year-old Courtney Nash passed away on Sunday. Nash was admitted to Arnold Palmer Hospital, where doctors confirmed the amoeba infection through a spinal tap, days before her death.
The funeral for Nash was held at 10:00 at Temple Baptist Church in Titusville. A graveside ceremony at the Oaklawn Memorial Gardens will be held following the funeral services.
Family and friends held a viewing for Nash on Friday, also at Temple Baptist Church.
