Marion County seeing more cases of people being reinfected with COVID-19

MARION COUNTY, Fla. — An urgent care practice in Marion County said it’s seeing more cases of people who have already had COVID-19 being reinfected.

COVID-19 reinfections aren’t specifically tracked by the state, so we don’t know how the cases stack up anywhere else.

In the last six weeks, cases of COVID-19 in unvaccinated and vaccinated patients are showing up at a ratio of 68 to 1 at Belleview Express Care.

Channel 9 asked the state if it will begin tracking this category, but haven’t heard back.

Gov. Ron DeSantis is standing by his statement last week that people who have recovered from COVID-19 are immune to reinfection.

Channel 9 contacted his office on Monday to ask about these cases of re-infection in Central Florida. DeSantis has not responded.
