Publix on Wednesday reopened its online reservation systems for COVID-19 vaccine appointments in Lake, Orange, Osceola, Polk, Seminole and Sumter counties.
The portal reopened at 7 a.m. Wednesday for appointments on Friday and at no cost.
By 8:30 a.m., all appointments were booked.
Publix stores received additional vaccine doses, allowing the store chain to reopen its online reservation system on Wednesday at 273 stores in 20 Florida counties, including several here in Central Florida.
Winter weather elsewhere in the country disrupted shipping, resulting in fewer stores having appointment availability, Publix said.
Vaccines are being provided to those 65 years and older and by appointment only through publix.com/covidvaccine.

The online reservation system typically opens every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning, Publix said.
The next time the online reservation system will open is at 7 a.m. Friday.
Publix added that vaccination appointments can only be scheduled online and cannot be made by calling Publix stores or pharmacies.
