1 man dies, 2 seriously injured in Volusia County head-on collision, troopers say

VOLUSIA COUNTY, Fla. — A man has died after a crash in Volusia County, the Florida Highway Patrol said.

According to a news release, a Chrysler van was traveling westbound on State Road 40 near Palmetto Pines Drive.

A Ford F-150 truck carrying a trailer was traveling eastbound on the same road.

Troopers said the driver of Chrysler did not maintain control while turning a curve and collided head-on with the truck.

The release said the Ford truck overturned and collided with a traffic sign off the roadway.

Investigators said the 26-year-old driver of the Chrysler was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 32-year-old driver and 45-year-old passenger of the truck were transported to Halifax Hospital with serious injuries.

FHP said the crash remains under investigation.
