1 person dies after Brevard County condo fire

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. — One person was found dead in a Cape Canaveral condo after a fire Saturday morning.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office said deputies and fire crews responded to the scene at Ocean Oaks Condominiums.

The condo was located at 8700 Ridgewood Ave.

According to a Facebook post by the Brevard County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene after firefighters found a dead person inside the apartment.

Fire crews were able to put out the flames and said the other apartment units and occupants were safe.

“As a result of the pending death investigation, units from our agency will remain “On-Scene” for several hours as our Crime Scene and Agents work the incident,” Sheriff Wayne Ivey said in a news release.

Red Cross officials said they are working to provide emergency assistance for those affected.
