1 year later, Jacksonville mom of murdered twin baby girls has message of hope

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. — A Jacksonville woman who lost her 5-month-old twins and her father in a murder-suicide has a message of hope for everyone, one year after that horrible day.

Megan Hiatt has been through multiple surgeries since she was shot by the father of her children, Gawain “Rush” Wilson, who then killed himself one year ago Sunday.

He also killed her twins, Hayden Rose Hiatt and Kayden Reese Hiatt, and her father, Jimmy Hiatt. Her father was helping her move out of the shooter's home, but he came back from work early, took out a gun and started shooting.

Part of her letter reads:

"I know I will never be the woman I was on November 13th, 2015 again or recover what was lost, but I move forward with the knowledge that there is hope and just because you have been a victim, doesn't mean you have to stay a victim."
