Weather alert day issued for tonight and Monday as flood threat increases

ORLANDO, Fla. — A Weather Alert Day has been issued for tonight and Monday, as the threat for flooding rains is increasing in Central Florida.

Deep tropical moisture, coupled with an upper-level disturbance, will produce widespread rain tonight and into much of Monday.

A Flood Watch has been expanded to include much of the region through Monday afternoon.

Periods of rain and a few storms are likely tonight and into the early morning hours. Heavy rainfall will be possible.

Additional rainfall is likely for the morning commute, with more activity expected during the remainder of the morning hours.

The rain will slowly break up to more scattered activity Monday afternoon into Monday evening.

Widespread 1-to-3-inch rainfall amounts are expected, with isolated 5 to 7 inches is possible.

This could result in significant flooding concerns, especially in areas that received heavy rainfall earlier Sunday.
