LAKE COUNTY, Fla. — An 18-year-old driver was arrested after deputies said he reached speeds of up to 110 mph on a Lake County road.
According to an arrest affidavit, a Lake County sheriff’s deputy spotted a silver Ford Focus traveling south on County Road 33 near County Road 48 at a high rate of speed around 10 p.m. Saturday.
The deputy said the car accelerated as he turned around and continued along County Road 33 while passing other vehicles.
The deputy paced the car at between 105 and 110 mph for several miles in a posted 55 mph zone, the affidavit states.
Deputies eventually caught up with the car and conducted a traffic stop near County Road 33 and West Cardinal Pines Boulevard in Mascotte.
The driver, identified as Yadiel Reyes, was taken into custody on a charge of dangerous excessive speeding.
His bond was set at $500.
