The auto giant said gas prices are 66% higher than they were a year ago.

Plan to pay about $71 to fill up your average-sized, 15-gallon gas tank — roughly $29 more than what you paid in June 2021.

And expect the pain at the pump to worsen in the coming weeks.

A $5 gallon of gas could soon become a reality.

Gasoline made strong gains in the futures markets last week, according to AAA.

“When that happens, we normally see retail prices rise,” AAA’s Mark Jenkins said.

“It can take days or a week for pump prices to reflect the change, but it wouldn’t be a surprise to see retailers raise their prices another 20 cents by Monday night.”
