“It’s been such an emotional vote for me because I got picked and I’ve worked so hard in my life to get to this point. And it’s an honor to represent Team Florida for Special Olympics. And I’m very excited to go.”

Ladieu and some of his teammates spent Wednesday morning helping get others excited for the massive upcoming event.

They arrived at Orlando Executive Airport in Special Olympics Lynx buses, officially launching the 90-day countdown to the opening ceremonies in June.

They also had the opportunity to work out with WWE superstars. WWE has been a longtime partner of the Special Olympics and a gold sponsor for the powerlifting event. Several wrestlers were announced as ambassadors for the USA Games, including Bianca Belair.

“What they’re doing is inspiring, and they inspire us every single day,” she said.

The event took place on the airport runway because, in June, 175 private planes will bring athletes from all over the country to Central Florida, landing every 90 seconds.

“Right now we’re preparing 185,000 meals, we have to deliver, 3,500 bus trips,” Special Olympics President and CEO Joe Dzaluk said. “And we’re getting down to the end. The team is excited, we’re excited, and our partners are excited in the community.”

Wednesday’s event was packed with announcements.
